RPS

Hi Rovers,

You know in June, after I delivered that smashing expletive-laden tongue lashing about you guys not reading this blog?

If I recall, you guys vehemently protested and argued that you do. And you all agreed to read and respond to this blog.

So, the biggest question I pose to you guys now, "How do we build trust?" Especially when the answers regarding the RPS went unheeded. This is a team effort, but so far, the response has been dismal.

Reply leh!

I'm revealing the Rover work plan for the rest on 25 Jul 09 when we meet.

Regards,
Paul

Cancelled Rover Round Table

Hi Bros,

In view of the pathetic response rate for the 5th June evening event, I've decided to postpone it till further notice. Tentatively I'll push it to 20th June (afternoon). This is extremely regrettable for me as I was looking forward to finally being able to distribute out the much-awaited crew badge.

Please realise that you guys are going to adults, so for Pete sake, have the freaking decency to reply Azri or Kenedict! We're not going to coddle you in cotton wool forever. I mean everyone agreed to read this damn blog right? Is it too much to ask?

Does it really take that much trouble? Seriously! Take note and reflect on the damn issue. Please reply via this blog.

Thanks.

Service on Fri, 12 June 09

Hi Bros,

We are providing a service on the mentioned date to a group of 60 kids from a day care centre affiliated to the Church of our Lady Star of the Sea. We got this request through Marlin and they would like to experience a day of Scout like activities, games etc.

Details are as follows:
Date: Fri, 12 June 2009
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Pasir Ris Beach

We are hoping that this service could be a regular one for the rovers just like the way the Ventures have their Job Week one for cubs. So we must show support for this event. I have opened an invite to the Ventures to help us too and they are willing.

Activities have already somewhat been planned and we need people to execute it. At least minimally 6 - 8 cos we have about 6 game stations. We will also need manpower to move any equipment there. (thinking of setting up a flagstaff there)

Please do show support for this Rover project and confirm your attendance for it with Azri. We will need to meet before the actual event to finalise matters.

A rover get together

Greetings Rovers,

It has been a long while, since all the rovers get together for a good meal or at least a good sharing session. Especially now, when most of us are at another phase of life, meeting new people, going through a whole new things altogether and having to face new challenges.
In fact, that is the whole idea of rovering.

I would like to propose to have a meet up session with all the rovers, to talk about stuff like ie. new updates etc. The details are as follow:

Venue: Simei Starbucks
Time: 8.00pm
Date & Day: 30th April 2009

Please coordinate with one another, and remind one another about the above mentioned gathering! Looking forward to meet all of you.

Yours,

BAT

Just to congratulate our Bat, Tamarin and Otter for clearing their Personal Aspirations 1 on Fri, 17 April 2009! It was an engaging and fulfilling discussion that we had and I'm sure they learnt much from each other. =D It was also very insightful for me to learn more about them on a personal level.

So if you guys feel like you wanna do your Aspiration section and are ready for it, do arrange to see me yar?

Btw, your Log Books are an important necessity, please ensure you have them.

Cheers!

Monday, March 9, 2009

Hey bros,

Changed the page title and template for the fun of it... more of a "sea" theme... haha

Anyways, we had a good show up at the D-camp so thanks guys. Next up is the Job week camp and if anyone has more ideas to help us raise funds please do suggest it. One idea so far is to sell drinks at Fri's school run. So who's free to take charge of it?

Sat is the Cub Scout service day. Bear and Macaw will arrange the duties. Sun evening is the combined activity with Kijang, of which they've agreed to plan.

Won't be able to join you guys for Thurs activity cos' I have a Parent Teacher's meet in the evening... bleah...

So see you Fri. =D

Cheers!

Sharing

Dear Rovers,

If you guys have anything to share about Rovering in general, feel free to write about it on this blog rather than having to wait for a round table meeting. Our experiences as discussed last week, help to mould the crew in small incremental steps which is a good thing.

I guess I'll start the ball rolling first since I have effectively "arrowed" myself.

Granted my absence from today's campfire is a disappointment. I've some commitments that I'm unable to get away from so apologies for that. But that is a lesson in itself that I wish to impart to all of you.

The importance of weighing the pros and cons thoroughly.

Granted, I could have shirked my commitments and attended the campfire but the consequences would have been an irate (angry) set of parents.

On one hand, like Bee mentioned, this campfire would serve as a great way to introduce the crew to the District. But on the other, filial piety is a value championed by our own founding father. After all, I still have to live in this house for the forseeable future and it would be good to maintain a harmonious environment right?

My case is a tad stupid. But it has its merits.

As you grow older and come to grasp the importance of becoming an adult, there's that sickening realisation that you've got to use your brains a bit more. No longer are you able to shrug off a decision made in the spur of the moment; like you going to spend a lot of cash on a new phone because your parents will back you up. No, now you've got to carefully weigh your finances. No point blowing all your hard-earned dough and not having money to eat at all right?

As Rovers we're growing up to be full-fledged adults. I hope that when you eventually leave the service to seek greener pastures, we have inculcated a Rover that weighs his options carefully and thus, is able to be held accountable for his actions.

Regards,
R Bear (National Serf)
